Dear Parents/Guardians
As we come to the end of our first term of 2011/2012 we would like to
give parents on update on plans for the coming year.
The book club is back up and running and
it is never too late to start saving. Our book club is the 1st Wednesday
of every month along with our coffee morning. We have also started up
a Gaeltacht Savings Club for classes from 4th to 6th. We felt this would
give parents the opportunity to put a little away each month for the
annual Gaeltacht trip which takes place in 6th. This is also run on
the 1st Wednesday of every month.
The school insurance scheme has also been
completed for this year.
On the 30th September we had our first school
disco. This was divided into two categories junior and senior, and due
to the great success of this we hope to hold another one coming up to
Christmas. We will keep you updated on this.
As most parents are aware during
September the children got their photographs taken for the school Christmas
calendar, these have gone to the printers and we hope to have the calendar
on sale mid-November.
We will also be arranging
the printing of tickets for our annual Christmas Raffle which will be
sent home at the start of December. We will be looking for prizes for
the raffle so all donations are greatly welcomed.
As this year sees the 10th anniversary of the school we will be holding
a Celtic week, a letter has already been sent out looking for volunteers
to help out and you will be hearing more about this in the coming weeks.
During the Celtic week we will be holding our Winter Fair and the funds
raised from this will go into the Gaeltacht Fund. This fund is to try
and keep the cost of the 6th class trip to the Gaeltacht to a minimum
for parents.
On the 18th October we had the election of parent representatives on
the board of management, we are please to say our 2 new representatives
are Carol Dunne and Brien Nolan, we look forward to Carol and Brien
coming on board and working with them.
We have decided to change the date of our annual table quiz and this
will now be held in February.
There will be a healthy eating week the second week in November and
we encourage parents to continue giving the children healthy lunches.
The PTA will prepare platters of fruit for each class for that week.
Also in November we will be collecting old mobile phones to get an ipad/laptop
for the resource classes. There will be a letter with an envelope attached
sent out in November and all we ask is that you return any old phones
you have to us. If we collect 165 we get an ipad, which will be set
up in the resource class for the children to use. You will also be in
with a chance to win your mortgage paid for a year. This is all being
done through Autism Ireland
Finally we would ask parents to be aware of the following No Dogs on
school grounds and to think about how you park your car in the mornings
and afternoons at the school, we still have some parents who park erratically
and we don’t want any of the children to be injured.
Also remember you can log on to the school website for all school updates.
