/ Áiléar We celebrated Chinese
New Year, it was the year of the dragon. Some of us dressed in traditional
chinese clothes, others made really cool dragons and some of us brought
in fab hats and shoes all the way from China.
We made scary dragons.
We decorated our
corridor with beautiful chinese lanterns that we painted in art class.
In art this week
we studied the Artist of the Month - Laurence Lowry. We loved his matchstalk
men and recreated some of our own. We listened to the song Matchstalk
Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs. It was written by two men called Brian
and Michael and it was the Christmas Number 1 in 1978, way before we
were even born!
In Órla and
Julie's classes we got really spooky for Halloween.
We did the Thriller
dance in assembly. It was spooktastic! We made super cool
autumn picutres. We painted over multi coloured crayons with blue paint
and then etched out the reflection of the trees with tooth picks. It
looks like the trees are reflected in the water don't you think?
We went on an autumn
walk and collected acorns, conkers and lots of different autumnal leaves. Did you know this
is the oldest bridge in Ireland and it's in Lucan! Look at our art work based on the artist of the month.
We celebrated Roald Dahl week by making Fantastic Mr Fox masks.
