We went to 17 Martin Street in town. 17 Martin St is a novel by Marilyn Taylor about a Jewish family living in Portobello during the Emergency (WWII). We went to visit the street and Marilyn showed us around the synagogue and the Jewish Museum which are nearby. Then we all went to the Bretzel Bakery where they cook breads etc according to Jewish tradition and holy laws. It was a very interesting day out. We made spicy cauliflower stew and moroccan chick pea couscous for the two African story tellers who came in to talk to us during Africa week.
This is a traditional African game.
We enjoyed playing it during Africa week.
Wednesday 20th of May was crazy clothes day in school. Check out our clothes!
We went into town to visit the Chester Beatty Library in the grounds of Dublin Castle with Liz and Mic. We had a fantastic day.
Relaxing on the roof top garden.
What's in there Mic???
We carried out an experiment in science to see what would happen if there was an oil spill at sea. The black paint mixed with cooking oil represents the oil spill.
We investigated what would happen when warm sea water meets cold sea water.
Below are photos of us preparing in class our presentation for The Big Read: Global Campaign for Education Week. We really enjoyed presenting what we had learned in class with Liz to the rest of the school at senior assembly.
We put up a display at the front entrance of our school for Global Campaign for Education Week.
We celebrated Spanish week by learning some spanish words, phrases and songs and cooking with Liz and Jane. We really enjoyed it. We made cards to welcome Jane and put them on our Spanish Table in class.
Jane got straight to work explaining what we were to do.
