We have ben keeping caterpillars in our class and watching them grow
Sarah's class got into the Mardi Gras mood and paraded around the school with their fab masks made in art class.
This shows some of the children in Sarah's class painting their still life pictures of fruit, inspired by Van Gogh's still life work. Both classes have their paintings on display along the corridor.
Look at the flapjacks we made during Healthy Eating week!
Both the junior infant classes created a dragon to celebrate Chinese New Year. They also sang a Chinese song taught to them by Lucy on the day for some of the other classes. Below is our dragon.
This is how we made it.
Both classes applied papier mache to dragon heads constructed from cereal boxes and egg cartons.
Sarah's class painting the dragon head.
Alison's class begin to paint their dragon head.
Both classes created the dragons bodies from old sheets and used fabric paint and glitter to decorate them. This photo shows Sarah's class painting the dragon's body.
This shows some of the snowflake prints made by both classes. The children cut out their own unique snowflake and then used it and the silk screen to create the snowflake prints.
This photo shows the snowmen the children drew using crayon after watching the Snowman film. We created cityscapes in both classes. This is some work from Alison's class. We painted the background sky using watered down paint. We glued on strips of black construction paper and yellow squares to create the buildings. Below is work from Sarah's class. Look at the results from our trasport survey!
Look at our Jackson Pollack inspired "Emotion" group paintings created by both classes. We were asked if we were a certain emotion what colour would we be. We then chose three colours for each of the emotions happy, sad, angry and excited and created our paintings using straws and glue sticks. Can you guess which emotion is being represented by this picture?
These are the ghosts we made, the bodies are from PVA glue, and the other bits are black, red and orange crepe paper. This was the scary door into our class with pumpkins outside. Sarah, Jackie and Linda got dressed up too for Halloween. In Alison's class we made Monsters in Science class using different materials (above). We also made Mosaics that we put on our class window to celebrate Eid (below).
In Alison and Sarah's class all decorated autumn trees. The leaves are all of our hand prints (above). We also made pictures for a poem we learned (below). We used the side of our palms in brown paint to make the trunks and branches, and then we used our fingerprints in Autumn colours to make the leaves. The Poem we learned was called "Autumn Leaves" and goes like this: Autumn leaves are
